His group works across genet­ics, sys­tems bio­logy, meta­bol­ism, muscle bio­logy and aging, and reads them together rather than one at a time. The work has not stayed in the labor­at­ory. PPAR agon­ists, uro­lithin A, PARP inhib­it­ors and other NAD⁺ boost­ers all trace back to it, in meta­bolic, car­di­ovas­cu­lar, renal and neur­omus­cu­lar dis­ease.

Xiaolu leads both halves of the part­ner­ship, Cornaro.ai and Natural Constant, and invests in the tech­no­logy that the rest of the field is being rebuilt on.

He came to it from the invest­ment side. As Exec­ut­ive Dir­ector at China Life Equity Invest­ment, he backed tech­no­logy-driven bio­tech­no­logy com­pan­ies and worked with them on strategy and on the tech­nical ques­tions under­neath it, which is the same judge­ment that this com­pany runs on: know­ing which sci­ence is ready to be built into a busi­ness.
